Orval Abbey is a Cistercian monastery, now occupied by a community of Cistercian-Trappist, located in Villers-devant-Orval, Gaume, in the Belgian province of Luxembourg (Wallonia region of Belgium).
In 1931, the installation of a brewery within the monastery was decided to provide financial assistance to build the new monastery.
Now and in the Cistercian tradition, the monastic community devoted primarily to welfare income related to the sale of beer under the name Orval.
There are only seven Trappist breweries in the world.

Abbaye Notre-Dame de Scourmont, located in Forges (Chimay), Belgium, is an abbey of the Cistercian Order of the Strict Observance.
Its construction dates from the second half of the nineteenth century and is the work of the Cistercian Trappist monks.
The origins of Scourmont relate to a community of Trappist monks of Westvleteren (Ypres) that July 25, 1850 at the initiative of Abbot Jordan (priest in the region of Chimay), sent 17 monks settled on land offered by Prince Joseph of Chimay.
